Palm leaf hat is closely associated with the life of Thai farmers. They need it to protect themselves from the heat.

Manufacturing process: the warmer it is, the easier the leaves wither. The artisan then uses a hot steel rod to iron the dried leaves, which is heated just so to flatten the leaves but without burning them or yellowing their color.

Then the leaves are sewn onto a frame made of bamboo edges. This requires enough practical experience of skilled artisans.
