Origin of Pantomime Doll
The legend of the Ramakia has its roots in the Ramayana, an ancient Indian tale. The Ramayana was written more than 2,000 years ago by the Sanskrit poet Valmiki and tells the story of the Hindu god Vishnu
and his 7th incarnation as Rama (Phra Ram), the prince and king of Ayodhya. He fought a demon who had kidnapped his beautiful wife (Sida).
Phra Ram gathers a monkey army led by a white monkey named General Hanuman. And with Hanuman's help, he defeats Tosakanth in battle.
These stories are conveyed through Thai mime performances in which all actors must wear masks that cover their entire faces.
